Stitch Fix #2

I was very excited to get my next box from Stitch Fix. I told them I wanted to try a maxi skirt and a boyfriend Tshirt.

Best of all I had a $100 referral credit!! Woot!

When the Fed Ex man stopped in front of my house I ran outside and screamed. I was totally excited but I scared the poop out of the guy. I tried to explain how the box was full of happiness....aka new clothes. He just quickly handed me the box and scurried back to his truck.

I ran inside to open my happiness box. Sis (of course) was just as excited as me and ran upstairs with me to have a fashion show.

I took terrible photos. I think you can still see the clothes but I seriously need a selfie photo lesson. Sheesh.

In case you missed my first order from Stitch Fix you can go HERE to see it.

They send out five pieces in each box. Here's what I got in this box.

1. 3/4 Sleeve White Blouse $58.00.

Pros: The blouse was a cute design.

Cons: It did not fit well. It was too tight across the bust and the seams on the sides were sewn crooked so that instead of going straight down each side they veered around my sides. It was made in China. I did not keep it.

2. Striped Cotton Top $74.00.

Pros: This top was cute. It was a nice soft cotton and had cut detail on the sleeves. You could wear it rolled up and buttoned or wear down. It was made in the USA.

Cons: It did not fit well around the waist. It was a bit loose and boxy. It was expensive and I have a ton of blue and white and a ton of striped tops. I did not keep the top.

3. Teal Maxi Skirt $58.00.

Pros: The color was great. The fabric was very soft. It was made in USA.

Cons: Every lump, bump and cellulite jiggle showed through the skirt. There is not enough Spanx on the planet to make this skirt wearable for me. It was not the best cut either. I did not keep the skirt.

4. Grey Boyfriend Tshirt $44.00.

Pros: The fabric is really soft. It is made in USA. The fit is great!! It is really comfortable and I have lots I can wear it with.

I kept this top.

5. Striped Maxi Skirt $58.00.

Pros: I love the cut and pattern. It fit really well and is very comfortable. Made in the USA. It has a raw edge on the bottom so it's easy to cut some off to make it the right length....or I can pull it up high around my waist.

Cons: I had asked for a maxi skirt but specified any color except blue because I have a lot of blue right now.

I kept this skirt.

Once again I really loved the styling card that comes with the box. I keep it out on my jewelry counter so I can use it daily.

So far I've worn the grey top with my navy jeans that came in my last order. I accessorized with a teal/white stripe infinity scarf and wore my fab orange sandals. I will be wearing the skirt tomorrow on date night.

I've already scheduled my next Stitch Fix order. I'm hoping for a fun new hoodie or sweater for our beach trip. I'd also like a blouse to wear with my new maxi skirt. Something like the blouses featured on my styling card would be great!

If you haven't tried Stitch Fix you can go to the link below to get started! You will love it. It's fun and easy and they have sent me some really great things!! Try it!

And....what do you think?? Leave me your critiques in the comments. Do you think I could wear a belt with the grey top and stripe skirt? What other accessories would you add? Ideas!

Church Love

On Saturday we attended the baptism and chrismation of a family. It was so lovely to watch them come into the church together. Our amazing choir director took this photo of us.

I love this photo. It shows one of the many reasons why I love going to church with my family so, so much. I love the quiet time to stand with my favorite people. I love to hug on them. Hold them. Rub their back. Kiss the top of their heads. Hold their hands.

There is no housework or other pressing distractions to pull at my attention. For a couple of hours it is time to worship and quiet my mind....and love on my family.

What are your favorite times or places to connect with your family?

The Good and the Bad

Mr. P made this adorable caterpillar a couple of years ago at pre-school. It gives me such joy to look at. It was during his green faze. He would bring home art project after art project and they would all be green.

Well, I'd say I usually blog about the fun, happy and charming sides of my family life. BUT, this is a very hard year and I'm having a VERY hard week. I debated whether to say anything here in blog land...as it is here for anyone and everyone to read. But, this is me, the good and the bad. I'm an honest person and I wear my heart on my sleeve. I do not have a good poker face at all so why have a poker face here on my blog too?

As you know my hubby Cam is in grad school. He has one year left....one long and hard year! UGH! Right now, this week, today, this minute that sounds like FOREVER. It sounds un-doable, it sounds downright rotten. I feel like throwing in the towel. I feel cranky, overworked and under appreciated. I feel lonely, yet I'm never alone. I feel stressed. I feel tired even though I'm finally getting some sleep at night. I feel tense and I'm snappy. I cried at the gym yesterday for the whole hour I was on the treadmill. I cried when the babies threw all their dinner on the carpet. I've yelled at the kids...more than once. I really miss my hubby. He is working so hard at both school and work. He sees the kids for a couple of nights (2 hours) a week and maybe one day a week. It's not enough for any of us. This quarter consists of 2 full days of clinical, 2 full days of classes, and 2-12 hour work shifts. When you add in studying that doesn't leave much time for anything else. On top of the craziness we have colds and Baby George is teething his eye teeth...yes, the dreaded eye teeth. He is cranky and clinging. I have little bruises all over my body from him biting me. By the end of the day I feel like I've been slowly pecked to death by chickens. My house is a disaster....I know what everyone will say...having a clean house isn't important but it helps me function better. I'm not talking sparkling clean but maintained and organized. Probably should get off here and start cleaning:)

I know this too shall pass and I'm going to put my head down and push forward...and do my best. Little things are helping me get through this. The highlights of the week were; coming home from the gym and finding Cam had cleaned the kitchen and dressed the kids...yeah:), a friend offered to bring Mr. P home from school on Friday so I didn't have to load the kids up and venture out into the pouring rain....yeah:), an email and phone call from a friend and her offer to help us out in any way, plus her encouragement....yeah:), my MIL watched the babies so I could go on a field trip with Busy Guy...yeah:). I feel better today than I did on Thurs. so these little things are helping. Cam and I working together and are giving it an extra effort to be kind to each other and be aware of the other's needs. I will pray more and read the Psalms. I always find comfort and encouragement in the Psalms. Pray for me. I could use the extra prayers.

Stay at home mom?

Stay at home mom...this is what I call myself. I don't work outside the home and I don't earn a paycheck. Whenever someone asks what I do or if I work, I always reply with "I'm a stay at home mom". It's a sort of strange phrase. But, what I really want to say is..."YES, I WORK". Anyone who has ever stayed home with kids and run a household knows that it IS work...and hard work. Yes, there are benefits too. It's what is right for me and my family at this point in our lives. We make some sacrifices to make it work but we are also blessed immensely and have the financial means to do it too.
I don't really know what else to call myself. Usually on forms when it asks for my profession I put down "Mom". I have had part-time jobs over the years but right now it's best for our family if I don't. It gets to be too much of a scheduling pain to make it worth the money. All of my time, energy and focus is on my family and taking care of our house, etc.
It makes me sad when women battle over whether it's harder to stay home or to work and raise kids too. I think both are hard. There are benefits to both. Sometimes I would love to put on a nice outfit, grab a coffee at Starbucks and head into the office. I tell my hubby that on loud, hard days at home I dream of being an accountant...sitting in a peaceful office. I'm sure if I was in that office I would be dreaming of my wild and loud family.
So...what do you call yourself? Stay at home mom, homemaker, working mom? I'm thinking the title "CEO of wildatheartfamily" is a good one.
