The Crock Pot

I am trying to make more dinners ahead of time or get started earlier in the day. So, this morning I put Potato Soup in the crock pot to cook all day. It was yummy, easy and little clean up. My pregnancy nausea/hideous heartburn isn't gone yet (I keep hoping it will be subsiding soon as I'm almost 13 weeks along and this is when I felt better with the other pregnancies). Having cereal or take-out for every meal is wearing thin so I'm trying to cook but have it be easy. I need quick, easy and yummy recipes for the crock pot (or ones for getting rid of heartburn). Leave me a recipe in the comments section...I'll be soooo thankful. Better yet, come on over and cook it for us;)

  1. Pulled pork is my favorite in the crockpot and it's so easy! I just put in a pork tenderloin with a can of dark beer (you can use soda too I've heard) and a bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce. Let it sit all day, and occasionally pull at it with a fork. It is so good... either over rice or on rolls.

Thanks for your comment tonight too. It helps just to know that you deal with that stuff too. Sometimes it's so frustrating.

  2. I had to laugh when I read this. Do you remember you Dad and crock-pot music as you and your sister called it back in the mid-70's? Anyway, it is really easy to do a roast in the crockpot. Just add seasonings and onions and set it on hign for about 3 hours and then turn it to low for 3-4 more. You can add carrots and potatoes if you want but remember the carrots take longer to cook than the other vegetables. It is also really easy to make a stew (cubed meat, onions, pepper, and some beef broth, then add potatoes, celery and other veggies after you turn it down.) I also do a chili with extra-lean ground beef, cubed tomatoes, tomato sauce, dehydrated onions, beans. I just throw that in the crockpot and let it cook for 5 hours or so and it's done.

  3. Barbara at www.blessusolord.blogspot.com had a crock pot festival a while back and she had some awesome recipes. Let me know if you can't find it. I added the BBQ beef recipe, but I don't know how good it is for heartburn!

I wish we lived closer. I'd be happy to bring dinner over.

  4. Thanks for the recipes...and the offer to come cook it! I bought some papaya enzymes at the health food store today. They are supposed to help with heartburn and acid stomach. I hope it works or the only thing I'll be doing in the crockpot will be oatmeal!
