Stitch Fix Keeper

Thanks for all the feedback on the Stitch Fix order! I really love honest opinions!

I need to actually set up my tripod and take better pics of myself in the clothes. I take a terrible selfie...and then resort to asking one of my kids to take some photos. Short kids holding the camera at an upward angle to do not produce the best effects. Eeek!

So here's what I thought about the clothes.

1. The jeans. They were comfy and a cute style but they were too big around the waist and a bit too short in length. Bummer!! I really need new jeans and I was hoping they would work. I returned them.

2. The navy polka dot dress. It is comfy and a cute style. I don't think the photos do it justice. The negative is that I have three other navy blue dresses. I solicited a bunch of advice from my Fashion Friends and they told me great ideas for wearing the dress. Suggestions included pairing it with leggings, tights, boots, belts, jean jacket, fun jewelry and colors ranging from brown and black to red, turquoise, and hot pink. I'm going belt shopping to see what I can find. I kept the dress.

3. The Infinity Scarf. I hated it. It was HUGE and ITCHY and whoa.....HUGE. Plus I already have a burgundy infinity scarf (that's not huge). I returned it.

4. The Grey Cardigan. I loved the style. But it too was itchy. I HATE wool and it was a combo of wool and acrylic. Also, I have three grey cardigans. Phooey. I sent it back.

5. The Mustard Blouse. I HATE the color!!! It's just not for me. Actually, the style looks good in the photo.....which is completely deceiving because the blouse is cut open all the way down to my navel and as soon as I move it flops open so far that it falls off of me. Too big...bad color. I sent it back.

I had a credit of $50.00 so the dress only cost me $18.00. Thanks to all of you that have tried Stitch Fix and gave me a referral credit!!

I'll post some pics of the dress when I complete the look.

I am loving Stitch Fix! So fun. So easy and I've liked at least one or more item from each shipment! You should try it too! Go here to Stitch Fix.

Closet mess and more

My confession: The hallway in front of my closet is always a mess!! It's a funny thing. I bring my clean laundry up and put it on the floor in front of my closet. Then, I neglect putting it away...and then I did through it...dump stuff on top of it. Finally, when I can't take it anymore, I clean it up.

It's an especially strange habit since I am very organized about my clothes once they are put away. I organize my shirt by color and by style. The first section is cardigan sweaters and then shirts.

Scarves at the end and then pants and then skirts by color....ooops it looks like one coral skirt is amiss.

Dresses have their own area next to a long hanging organizer for bras, camisoles, and then folded sweaters.

At the end of my hallway I have a skinny cabinet that I put workout clothes, undies, and socks.

Once it's all put away I feel so good. It lasts for about half a week....or until I have clean laundry to put away.

Once my closet is clean and organized I like to stand back and take a look. These pics were from summer so the colors reflect my summer wardrobe. You can see from the photos that I like coral, turquoise, green and navy a lot. I do have a smidge of purple and lots of basic black and white. And I love stripes.

I like clothes but I really don't like too many choices. I regularly purge because it's too overwhelming to decide if my closet it too full.

This year I've added a lot of cute new items through Stitch Fix. I love it!!! I didn't post my last shipment because I was swamped getting ready for vacation.

They sent me a coral cardigan (it was too long for my petite height), a coral leather purse (buttery soft), a pair of jeans (too tight and just like some I have), a zig zag pattern top (not my fav), and this cute navy tank.

I only kept the tank. Money was tight...although the purse was tempting. I've worn the tank several times. It's loose fitting and flows nicely. I wore it with my turquoise pants and fun orange and turquoise jewelry. It's also cute with jeans and a jacket or sweater.

If you haven't tried Stitch Fix...you should!!

So what does my closet say about me? What does your closet say about you?

Stitch Fix #2

I was very excited to get my next box from Stitch Fix. I told them I wanted to try a maxi skirt and a boyfriend Tshirt.

Best of all I had a $100 referral credit!! Woot!

When the Fed Ex man stopped in front of my house I ran outside and screamed. I was totally excited but I scared the poop out of the guy. I tried to explain how the box was full of happiness....aka new clothes. He just quickly handed me the box and scurried back to his truck.

I ran inside to open my happiness box. Sis (of course) was just as excited as me and ran upstairs with me to have a fashion show.

I took terrible photos. I think you can still see the clothes but I seriously need a selfie photo lesson. Sheesh.

In case you missed my first order from Stitch Fix you can go HERE to see it.

They send out five pieces in each box. Here's what I got in this box.

1. 3/4 Sleeve White Blouse $58.00.

Pros: The blouse was a cute design.

Cons: It did not fit well. It was too tight across the bust and the seams on the sides were sewn crooked so that instead of going straight down each side they veered around my sides. It was made in China. I did not keep it.

2. Striped Cotton Top $74.00.

Pros: This top was cute. It was a nice soft cotton and had cut detail on the sleeves. You could wear it rolled up and buttoned or wear down. It was made in the USA.

Cons: It did not fit well around the waist. It was a bit loose and boxy. It was expensive and I have a ton of blue and white and a ton of striped tops. I did not keep the top.

3. Teal Maxi Skirt $58.00.

Pros: The color was great. The fabric was very soft. It was made in USA.

Cons: Every lump, bump and cellulite jiggle showed through the skirt. There is not enough Spanx on the planet to make this skirt wearable for me. It was not the best cut either. I did not keep the skirt.

4. Grey Boyfriend Tshirt $44.00.

Pros: The fabric is really soft. It is made in USA. The fit is great!! It is really comfortable and I have lots I can wear it with.

I kept this top.

5. Striped Maxi Skirt $58.00.

Pros: I love the cut and pattern. It fit really well and is very comfortable. Made in the USA. It has a raw edge on the bottom so it's easy to cut some off to make it the right length....or I can pull it up high around my waist.

Cons: I had asked for a maxi skirt but specified any color except blue because I have a lot of blue right now.

I kept this skirt.

Once again I really loved the styling card that comes with the box. I keep it out on my jewelry counter so I can use it daily.

So far I've worn the grey top with my navy jeans that came in my last order. I accessorized with a teal/white stripe infinity scarf and wore my fab orange sandals. I will be wearing the skirt tomorrow on date night.

I've already scheduled my next Stitch Fix order. I'm hoping for a fun new hoodie or sweater for our beach trip. I'd also like a blouse to wear with my new maxi skirt. Something like the blouses featured on my styling card would be great!

If you haven't tried Stitch Fix you can go to the link below to get started! You will love it. It's fun and easy and they have sent me some really great things!! Try it!

And....what do you think?? Leave me your critiques in the comments. Do you think I could wear a belt with the grey top and stripe skirt? What other accessories would you add? Ideas!
